Level 6: Advanced Stagecraft

Advanced Stagecraft is about mastering the art of playing as a fully aware, collaborative ensemble member. In this class, improvisers will sharpen their awareness of the unique skills they bring to the table - and learn to recognize and uplift the strengths of others. With an emphasis on team dynamics, students will move beyond personal performance and into a mindset of collective creation.
This course introduces and focuses on the “Four Brains” framework - Player, Partner, Audience, and Director - encouraging players to engage from multiple perspectives as they build rich, intentional ensemble work. Through long form and freeform exploration, students will test the edges of their own improv instincts, challenge the so-called “rules” of improv, and begin to understand that what felt like rules were always guidelines meant to be questioned, reimagined, and sometimes broken.
In addition to refining group mind and narrative shows, students will practice giving and receiving feedback, with coaching on how and when to offer meaningful notes. This class is ideal for experienced improvisers ready to deepen their stagecraft, push their boundaries, and embrace the creative potential of structured chaos.
